Kwame Yogot, a Ghanaian rapper, has requested that the term “underground rapper” be dropped from his vocabulary.
Kwame Yogot told Kumi Kasa and DJ JahSolo on ABEN FM’s Entertainment Friday show that he had shared the stage with mainstream Ghanaian artists, which he considers to be a bonus.
He said in his submission:
“We’re all well-known performers,” says the group. “What makes me an underground artiste?” Kwame Yogot wonders. “I see myself as a mainstream act because a lot of people know me now, and my ‘Biibi Besi’ song is one of the country’s most popular songs now, so what makes me an underground artiste?”
