Nana Akufo Addo, President of Ghana

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has extended the free electricity and water package for Ghanaians for the next three months.

The President made this known in his address to the nation today, January 3, 2020. This, according to Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is to help reduce the impact of Covid-19 on Ghanaians.

This means Ghanaians will enjoy the package from January to March this year. This also forms part of measures put in place to help stop the spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

According to the President, the free electricity is for lifeline consumers while the free water is for consumers not using more that five cubic metres of water every month.

“Government will, thus, continue to pay the electricity bills for our nation’s 1 million active lifeline customers for the next three months, i.e. January, February and March. Additionally, all 1.5 million customers of the Ghana Water Company, whose consumption is not more than five cubic meters a month, will not paynay bills for he next three months i.e. January, February and March. This relief will be reviewed at the end of March”, he said.
