Minister for Energy, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, has disclosed prices of petroleum products are expected to decline further, in the coming months to make life comfortable for Ghanaians.
Hon Opoku Prempeh aka Napo stated he was surprised to see some Ghanaians happy when the prices of petroleum products shot up a few weeks ago.
He said it was not good for politicians to wish evil for the country just because they wanted to recapture political power and form a government.
He prayed those who wished petroleum products would increase to make the government unpopular would surely be put to shame eventually.
Petroleum prices will continue to go down more to reduce the burden on Ghanaians. If you are relying on higher petrol prices to win power then you have failed, he stressed.
Napo, who doubles as the MP for Manhyia South, was speaking at a graduation ceremony of 47 artisans; a project he sponsored the youth to be trained for free.
Beneficiaries were recruited from all the six electoral areas in Manhyia South, and were trained in fashion design, hair technology and make-up artistry by experts for three months.
The programme was, dubbed the ‘Youth Empowerment Project.’ It is his initiative with support from the College of Beauty, Arts and Entrepreneurship (CBAE).
After the free for three months training, graduates were given free startup tools to start their own businesses and contribute to national development.
Napo initiated the programme to curtail unemployment in his constituency.
It has trained about 140 youth in the Manhyia South Constituency in just six months of its birth.
He urged beneficiaries of the employment-creation programme to train other people in the constituency so that they would also become self-reliant.
The Energy Minister also said that frequent power cuts, also known as ‘dumsor’, which was the order of the day in the NDC era, would not return under NPP’s administration.
He’s confident the NPP government is ready to continue ruling the country on the right path so as to help increase prosperity among the citizenry.
Napo, therefore, urged the citizenry to continue to support President Akufo-Addo’s government so that it would take the country to its “Promised Land”.
Meanwhile, in other related news, Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh is believed to be the favorite running mate in elections 2024, for the ruling New Patriotic Party.
