Mr Johnson Aseidu Nketiah, the General Secretary of largest opposition party NDC has said Sammy Gyamfi attacked Speaker of Parliament and some NDC bigwigs out of ignorance.
Recall, in recent times, NDC’s National Communications Officer, Sammy Gyamfi in a Facebook post fired the Speaker of Parliament, Mr Alban Bagbin and the NDC MPs for betraying the party after they approved some ministers proposed to Parliament by President Akufo-Addo.
The Minority Leader in Parliament, Mr haruna Iddrisu came out to apologized on behalf of the NDC MPs for letting the party down.
However, Mr Alban Bagbin also fired back at Sammy Gyamfi and also remained the NDC party never to put their hope in him because he’s working for the interest of the country not that of NDC’s.
He told Sammy Gyamfi and NDC that he’s the Speaker of Parliament not the Speaker of NDC in Parliament.
Commenting on the development for the first time in public, Asiedu Nketia dismissed Gyamfi’s blistering attacks on the Speaker and the NDC Caucus, saying he is ignorant of how parliament works.
“People need to learn about the institution and how it works. Parliament has its own bodies and institutions that deal with matters of contempt of Parliament and all that,” Asiedu Nketia told Citi TV.
“You haven’t heard parliament cite Sammy Gyamfi of contempt. Sammy might not have known how Parliament works.
Maybe that is why Parliament in its wisdom realized that some of the statements could have come out of the ignorance of the work and procedures in Parliament,” Asiedu Nketia added.
