The publisher of popular online newspaper in Nigeria, Sahara Reporters, and a fierce critic of President Muhammad Buhari,
Omoyele Sowore, and other
activists have been arrested by the police in the early hours of today .
The publisher of Sahara Reporters had in the run up to the new year, tweeted and urged Nigerians to join him in a peaceful protest against the Buhari administration.
MNN learnt that Sowore and his supporters embarked on a peace march around Gudu Junction in Abuja around eleven in the night till the early morning of first January 2021 when a convoy of armed policemen stormed the protest venue .
After series of scuffles, the police operatives arrested the protesters and took them to a police unit infamously known as Abbatoir in the Lokogoma district of FCT
