Stonebwoy Clarifies Comments on Filling Accra Sports Stadium Without Sponsorship
Ghanaian dancehall star Stonebwoy has clarified earlier comments he made about being the only artiste in his class to have filled the Accra Sports Stadium without sponsorship.
Speaking on Hitz Fm, the 'My Name' crooner explained that his remarks were in response to claims by artiste manager Gomski, who had suggested that dancehall music posed a problem within Ghanaian music. Stonebwoy refuted this claim, emphasizing the genre’s substantial economic influence.
He stressed that dancehall events contribute to the economy by bringing in money for local businesses, hotels, and airlines.
“I was pointing to the fact that… dancehall filled the stadium and gave a lot of people jobs. So the economic factor cannot be denied,” he asserted.
He also emphasized that his achievements including filling the stadium and self-sponsoring his concert are widely known and shouldn’t be underestimated by industry gimmicks.
Stonebwoy also reiterated that his claim about the Accra Sports Stadium specifically referred to achieving this feat “without sponsorship.”
