The total number of teenage pregnancies recorded in Ghana in the year 2020 alone has been confirmed to be more than the total number of COVID-19 cases confirmed in Ghana in 2020 and 2021 combined.

According to a report that was put together by JoyNews, 2,865 girls between 10 and 14 got pregnant in 2020 whilst 107,023 between 15 and 19 were also pregnant in the same period.

The total number of novel coronavirus cases that have been confirmed in Ghana since day one is 92,562 with 1,587 active cases still been monitored in the country.

On the regional level, the total number of teenage pregnancies was highest in the Ashanti Region with 17,802, followed by the Eastern Region which recorded 10,856.

Greater Accra Region, was the fourth on the list after Ashanti, Eastern, Central and Northern Regions with a total of 9,018 cases of teenage pregnancies.

Ahafo Region was the last with 2,625 cases with the rest of the regions spreading in-between.
