GENERAL OVERVIEW 

The Akurase Mpuntuo Scholars program is a partnership between the Akurase Mpuntuo Foundation (AMF) and the Butterfly Foundation for Girls (BFG) to assist needy but brilliant female students in securing funding to further their education at the tertiary level.

The Akurase Mpuntuo Foundation is driven by a mission to equip individuals in marginalised communities with the skills, knowledge and resources to reach their full potential and to break the cycle of poverty.

Their vision is to create a future where individuals have access to quality education, economic opportunities and so on.

SCHOLARSHIP DETAILS

  • Scholarship covers full tuition fees of selected applicants in any Ghanaian public university 
  • Selected applicants will also receive mentoring and career coaching support
  • Beneficiaries will have the chance to contribute to community services and will also receive guidance on how to implement give back projects.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA 

To be selected for the Akurase Mpuntuo Scholars program, one must:

  • Be a female who has lost one or both parents and cannot afford the cost of tuition fees in Ghana
  • Be residing in any rural community in Ghana.
  • Have completed senior high school and meet the admission requirements for any undergraduate regular program or must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate program with a CGPA of 3.0 or better in any Ghanaian public university.
  • Show leadership potential and be ready to contribute to girls empowerment in rural communities.

APPLICATION PROCESS

The Akurase Mpuntuo Scholars program Required documents for application include;

  • Birth certificate or any National Identification Card
  • Evidence of the passing away of one or both parents
  • Certified WASSCE, GBCE, ABCE, O-level and A-level results from accredited institutions 
  • Official or unofficial transcripts for continuing students
  • One reference letter from a leader in your community, church or school ( Letters from family members will not be considered)
  • One page essay detailing how you intend to contribute to the development and empowerment of young girls in your community.
