Two Ladies Burnt In Car Crash at East Legon
On Saturday, October 12, 2024, there was an accident in East Legon, Accra, involving the loss of two people who were burnt beyond recognition following the eruption of fire due to the collision involving an Acura and a Jaguar.
According to the Spokesman of the Ghana National Fire Service, GNFS, ADO Alex King Nartey, the accident was ignited when one of the vehicles collided with a wood electric pole, causing the wires to drop and spark a fire. The fire spread very fast, engulfing the two vehicles and pinning the occupants of the Acura vehicle in the car.
Eyewitness accounts described a dramatic scene: thick black smoke billowed from the site, and people stood helplessly around as the fire intensified. The two women who died in this incident were badly burnt, and their bodies could not be identified at the scene of the disaster.
Two passengers in the Jaguar managed to escape the fire and were taken to the hospital. The firefighters who had been called to the scene tried to respond as quickly as possible, but when they arrived, both vehicles were already engulfed in the fire.
The video from social media provided by the GNFS captured the electric pole, which initially sparked dangerously before spreading to the cars. Such a terrible accident shows just how deadly electric hazards are and how seriously Ghana's roads need improvement.
