Win a Scholarship With the UBA Ghana National Essay Competition 2024

The United Bank of Africa(UBA) Ghana's National Essay competition which is a part of the UBA foundation's education initiative is an event organised anually to promote literacy and empower minds across Africa. The essay competition provides a platform for Senior High School Students to showcase their writing skills and compete for prestigious prizes.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
The competition is opened to:
- Senior High School Students from Ghana only
- Students between the ages of 15-18
ESSAY GUIDELINES
- Write an essay on the topic " Discuss the importance of environmental sustainability and the actions young people can take in combating climate change"
- The word count should be a maximum of 750 words
- The Essay should be hand written.
ADDITIONAL DOCUMENTS AND INFORMATION TO SUBMIT
- A passport sized photograph
- A copy of a birth certificate, National ID, School ID, or Passport
- Full name
- Telephone number
- Email address
- Name and address of school
- Residential address
AWARDS
The first three winners will receive an educational grant from UBA to cover school tuition and other expenses in any African University they choose to study in.
- 1st prize: $5,000
- 2nd prize: $3,000
- 3rd prize: $2,000
SELECTION PROCESS
- Judges made up of professors from distinguished Ghanaian Universities will review entries received and select 10 essays out of the lot for further assessment
- After this, the 10 finalists will go through a second round of competition where they will be allowed to sit and write another essay under supervision
- Three essays will then be selected after the second essay writing as the overall winners.
SUBMISSION DEADLINE
The deadline for all essay submissions is 10th December, 2024.
