Yul Edochie Sparks Controversy Over DNA Test Comments

Nollywood actor Yul Edochie has once again set social media ablaze with his latest statement on DNA testing and paternity disputes. The actor, known for his outspoken nature, shared a controversial post recently on Instagram, claiming that any woman who refuses to take a DNA test for her child when requested is “hiding something.”
His post read: “Any woman who refuses to do a DNA test on her child when it is demanded is hiding something. Don’t fall for any excuse she gives to you. She is hiding something. A clear conscience fears nothing.”
The statement immediately triggered a wave of mixed reactions. While some social media users supported Edochie’s stance, arguing that paternity tests promote transparency in relationships, others criticized him for making such a sweeping claim. Many also pointed out the irony of his statement, given the controversies surrounding his marriage and personal life.
Yul Edochie has been a subject of public scrutiny since April 2022, when he introduced actress Judy Austin as his second wife and announced the birth of their son. The revelation came as a shock to fans and deeply affected his first wife, May Edochie, who had been married to him for over 17 years and shares four children with him. Following the public humiliation and emotional distress caused by the situation, May filed for divorce in 2023, officially ending their marriage.
As Edochie’s remarks continue to spark debates, the conversation around paternity fraud, trust in relationships, and the importance of DNA testing remains a hot topic in Nigeria. Whether his statement was a personal reflection or a general opinion, one thing is clear—he remains one of the most talked-about figures in the Nigerian entertainment industry.
