Samuel Apea-Danquah Seeks Judicial Review on EC Disqualification

Founder of the Yellow Ghana Party (YGP), Samuel Apea-Danquah, in his quest to reverse the Electoral Commission’s (EC) decision to disqualify him from the presidential race, has filed a judicial review. He has also demanded that the Electoral Commission halt all activities related to the upcoming elections.

Speaking to Channel One News, Mr. Samuel Apea-Danquah expressed his concerns about the transparency of the presidential nomination process. He pointed out that Ghanaians need to realize that things are not as clear as they might seem. He suggested that candidate forms might have “fallen down” or “been skipped,” leaving the public in the dark about what happens behind the scenes.

What the general public needs to understand is that there is nothing in the nomination process that is transparent. We don't know who went through our forms. We don't know whose forms may have inadvertently fallen down or been skipped. We have no idea what happened, he stated.

Apea-Danquah is not only calling for a halt to all election-related activities but is also demanding that the Electoral Commission provide documentation detailing what transpired. He claimed that other presidential aspirants were given documents to correct certain errors even after the process had ended.

What we are asking for from the EC is to provide us documentation as to what exactly happened. Because we know for a fact that some candidates were given documents to make changes to even when the process had long closed. And today they are part of the final 13, he revealed.

He aims to present these documents to the court to prove to the judge that there were irregularities in the nomination process. Meanwhile, his lawyers have requested an adjournment until Thursday.
